When Richard Pitino told his bosses before this season it would be a "big-time" rebuilding year, he wasn't expecting it to be quite like this.
The Gophers (6-11, 0-5 Big Ten) have lost nine of their past 10 games, including six in a row, entering Saturday's game against Indiana (14-3, 4-0) at Williams Arena.
"No I didn't think it would be this bad," Pitino said Friday. "I'd be lying if I said I did."
Pitino said Minnesota has no shot to win another game this season if it can't rebound and defend. But is it possible to fix the latter if you have one of the worst defensive teams in the Big Ten in more than a decade?
