Gophers basketball: Nate Mason scores 25, but UMN skid reaches 8

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Minnesota basketball team's losing streak continued Wednesday night despite a career-high 25 points from sophomore guard Nate Mason in a 74-69 loss to Michigan at Crisler Center.

The Gophers (6-13, 0-7 Big Ten) have lost eight consecutive games this season and eight straight in the series against the Wolverines. They are 0-4 in true road games and 1-7 away from Williams Arena.

With Rutgers (6-13, 0-6) idle, Minnesota fell into sole possession of last place in the Big Ten Conference standings.

All that said, the loss to Michigan (14-5, 4-2) wasn't nearly as demoralizing as the Gophers' last road loss, when they trailed by as many as 38 points before losing 84-59 at Nebraska.
