Joey King was the Gophers' only scholarship player from Minnesota the past two seasons. The senior forward from Eagan finally has company.
The 2015 class added Reggie Lynch from Edina and Jarvis Johnson from Brooklyn Park. That gives the Gophers five Minnesotans this season, including walk-ons Stephon Sharp from Bloomington and Darrin Haugh from Prior Lake.
"When you're the only Division I program in the state, it's crucial to have in-state kids -- for a lot of reasons," coach Richard Pitino said. "We're not real close to a lot of places. There are not a lot of players who come out of North and South Dakota.
