Minnesota (25-4, 17-3) finished second in the Big Ten and was ranked 2nd or 3rd in the AVCA polls most of the season helping them to earn a spot in the top four seeds in this year’s Tournament. Being in the top four puts Minnesota on a path to the Final Four that runs straight through the Sports Pavilion as they will host all their matches up until the Final Four. The Gophers will be looking to make back-to-back trips to the Final Four.
The Gophers were 9-4 this season against teams in this week’s AVCA Top 25 and 13-4 against teams in this week’s RPI Top 50.
