CSU defense rides roller coaster of up and down play Saturday

Like a roller coaster, the Colorado State Rams defense started high, but went through multiple ups and downs in their 20-23 loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers Saturday.

The Rams defense continued the momentum they built up last week in the blowout victory over Savannah State, stonewalling the Golden Gophers’ offensive attack over and over again to start the contest.

For the first six drives of the game, Minnesota managed zero first downs as well as a fumbled snap. CSU put pressure on quarterback Mitch Leidner to force multiple early and errant throws. Kiel Robinson was credited for one of the five quarterback hurries and Minnesota only gained 19 yards through the first quarter.
