While it was a long-shot that Amir Coffey would upend Miles Bridges as the Big Ten Freshman of they Year, he was given well-deserved accolades by being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Coffey blew the doors off the hinges to start the season, reaching double figures in scoring in six straight games, including a 30-point effort against St. John’s.
That was just the beginning. Coffey immediately asserted himself as one of the go-to players on the team, but was unselfish at the same time. He’s second on the team in minutes per game and scoring, and pulled down four rebounds per game.
