Color me impressed. I figured head Gopher Jerry Kill would do pretty well, coaching a plucky Minnesota team that might occasionally put a scare into a better team, go 7-5 every year, and never really bother anybody. The days of Minnesota competing with the best of the Big Ten were long gone, and while Kill’s tenure in Minneapolis might make for a nice story, I never really expected they’d accomplish anything near what Kill has done.
Despite recruiting near the middle of the pack and lacking even the slightest semblance of a passing game, Kill has managed to improve the Gophers four straight years.
