Milwaukee Bucks Acquire Michael Beasley In Trade With Houston Rockets

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Michael Beasley in a trade with the Rockets, sending Tyler Ennis to Houston, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Milwaukee was looking to make a trade to add some wing depth after they announced yesterday that starting shooting guard Khris Middleton will be out for the next six months with a torn hamstring.

Beasley is expected to be a sixth or seventh man for the Bucks, leaving the question of who will fill Middleton's spot in the starting lineup. Second-year man Rashad Vaughn is the backup shooting guard who would be in line to become the starter, but Milwaukee has several options. The addition of Matthew Dellavedova means they could slide 6'6" point guard Michael Carter-Williams to the two, or play small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (who they were planning on using at point some this year) at the position.

The Rockets signed Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 draft, at the end of last season after he won MVP in China, and is due $1.4 million for the upcoming season. He is in the last year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He averaged 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 18.2 minutes in 20 regular season games with the Rockets last season.

Ennis projects to be Houston's backup point guard this season, as Patrick Beverly was the only player at the position on their roster. On the flip side, Beasley was listed as their third-string small forward, while Ennis was behind Michael Carter-Williams and Matthew Dellavedova in Milwaukee. Ennis averaged 4.5 points and 2.1 assists in 14.2 minutes in 46 games with the Bucks last season.
