Reid Nichols let go, Gord Ash removed from role as Brewers restructure

New Milwaukee Brewers general manager David Stearns began the restructuring of his front office Tuesday with the announcement that assistant GM Gord Ash and farm director Reid Nichols are being removed from those positions.

Ash was offered an unspecified different role in the organization, as was Scott Martens, the club's director of minor-league business operations. Stearns said he hoped both would stay with the Brewers in different roles.

"I'm not going to comment publicly on that right now," said Stearns. "Gord and I have had a couple of conversations on his role going forward. At this point, it's my hope and expectation he will stay.
