First, veteran RHP Brandon Woodruff has officially been diagnosed with a right elbow contusion (bruised right elbow) after being hit in the pitching arm by a line drive on Tuesday. Milwaukee has placed him on the 15-day IL, per Curt Hogg and Adam McCalvy.
It’s certainly a setback for Woody, who was on his second “last rehab start” of the season. It’s also great news considering the alternatives. If Woodruff had broken his throwing elbow or experienced ligament damage, it would have almost certainly closed the door on a return to Milwaukee this season.
