The Brewers’ acquisition of Brock Holt for the 2020 season was seen by many as a smart pickup. By any measure, Holt was the type of player David Stearns and Craig Counsell like. Unfortunately his 2020 performance did not measure up to his standard from previous seasons. The result was a DFA earlier in August with the ultimate result being his release.
In 36 plate appearances, Holt was only able to muster a .100/.222/.100 slash line. By his own admission, his head was not on baseball, but on his family.
Holt, with pregnant wife and young son at home, was very candid about his struggles, situation just a few days ago.
