In the 2016 MLB Draft the Milwaukee Brewers went for bats early on drafting OF Corey Ray and 3B Lucas Erceg, and C Mario Feliciano before ever drafting a pitcher. Ray started in A+ league right away, Erceg was impressive enough in Helena to be called up to lower A, and Feliciano is currently with 1B Ronnie Gideon in Rookie League.
Gideon is 21-years old and was drafted out of Texas A&M, one of six draft picks drafted out of the SEC conference by the Milwaukee Brewers. While other hitters like SS Gilbert Lara and OF Demi Orimoloye who are part of MLB Pipeline’s top 30 prospects are on the Helena Brewers roster, Gideon has outdone them pretty heavily.
