Jake Elmore's versatility should help Brewers' short-handed bench

When you're operating with a four-man bench, versatility is a valued commodity.

That was part of the reason the Brewers summoned infielder/outfielder Jake Elmore from Class AAA Colorado Springs on Tuesday and designated outfielder Alex Presley for assignment. It doesn't get more versatile than Elmore, who has played all nine positions in the major leagues, including catching and pitching in the same game for Houston in August 2013.

"That's one thing (for making the move)," manager Craig Counsell said. "With Hernan (Perez) and Jake, we've got two guys that play both infield and outfielder.
