Almost everything went exactly right for the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon in their emphatic Game 1 win over the Chicago Cubs to kick off the 2025 NLDS. The Brewers grabbed a huge early lead thanks to a six-run first inning and a three-run second, allowing them to control the game as they wished.
Freddy Peralta was excellent in his 5.2 innings of work, striking out nine Cubs, while surrendering just two earned runs on two solo homers: one by Michael Busch to start the game, and another by Ian Happ in the sixth inning just before he was pulled.
