ST. LOUIS -- The Brewers' Lorenzo Cain and Cardinals' Jose Martinez both left Monday night's game at Busch Stadium in the top of the ninth inning after getting injured on the same play.
Cain beat out an infield single but tripped over Martinez's right heel while crossing the bag.
Martinez went down, holding his right ankle, and eventually left the field under his own power, as did Cain, who was favoring his left leg.
The Brewers led the Cardinals, 4-3, going into the bottom of the ninth.
