The Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak caught up with Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis to discuss his football background, a memorable encounter with Mason Crosby that convinced him baseball was the way to go and a crazy 2015 season capped by a World Series appearance. Nieuwenhuis, 28, is hitting .275 with one home run and 12 runs batted in as part of a center-field platoon and also boasts an on-base percentage of .383. He was claimed off waivers from the New York Mets on Dec. 23 and is playing on a one-year, $514,000 contract.
You're in the major leagues now, but at Denver Christian High School you were the starting running back on the Division II state championship team in 2004.
