Demi Orimoloye could become first MLB player born in Africa

Pittsburgh — The Milwaukee Brewers selected a string of college players in Rounds 3-10 of the amateur draft Tuesday but the most interesting player on their list didn't even play in the United States or in college.

Outfielder Demi Orimoloye, 18, was born in Nigeria but his family moved to Canada when he was three and he played prep ball at St. Matthew's High School in Ottawa. He has considerable international experience while playing for the Canadian Junior National Team and the Ontario Blue Jays, and performed well in various showcases.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Orimoloye has a rare combination of size and speed, built like a football tight end.
