Davies on 10 day DL with rotator-cuff injury

MILWAUKEE -- Zach Davies will miss his scheduled start on Saturday against the Pirates after the Brewers placed the right-hander on the 10-day disabled list Thursday with inflammation in his rotator cuff.

The move was retroactive to Monday, the day after Davies threw 95 pitches and surrendered two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 2-0 loss to the Cubs at Wrigley Field. There was no indication after the game that he was hurting, and the team said it expects Davies to miss only one start.

Off-days help. The Brewers had an open date Thursday and another coming at the start of next week, meaning they can move up the rest of their starting pitchers to work on regular rest with Davies sidelined temporarily.
