Christian Yelich contract extension official, includes no-trade clause and no early opt-outs

The Milwaukee Brewers are officially announcing what was first repored earlier in the week — Christian Yelich will likely be a Milwaukee Brewer for the remainder of his career.

The team officially announced the former MVP’s new 9-year contract today, just ahead of a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. Central time.

2018 NL MVP and two-time reigning NL batting champion @ChristianYelich has officially agreed to a 9-year contract through the 2028 season with a mutual option for 2029.#ThisIsMyCrew pic.twitter.com/F4txNVasDE

Jon Heyman reported the initial details, including a $26 million per year salary during a bulk of the deal, from 2022 to 2028, but what we didn’t know until now is whether there were any other caveats to the new contract — after all, Rockies fans were similarly excited when Colorado extended Nolan Arenado, only to find out that the opt-outs in that deal came early.
