The night didn’t start out well for Brent Suter. On the first pitch of the game, Matt Carpenter homered to give the Cardinals a very early 1-0 lead. While it looked like it could be a bad game for Suter, it corrected very quickly. He retired the next 12 batters he saw, not allowing another base runner until the fifth inning. In the fifth, he hit Yadier Molina with a pitch, then Yairo Munoz drove him in on a double.
