Fastball Freddy Peralta got the start this evening against the American League West leading Houston Astros. Coming off a very strong start against Miami, there was likely optimism that he would replicate a similar performance against Houston. He did not.
Over 4+ innings, the Astros hitters had their way with the young pitcher. It started to go awry in the second inning. Tony Kemp started things off with a single. Later in the inning, Tyler White worked the count to 3-2. As Peralta is apt to do when he falls behind, he threw White a fastball.
