2026 is the year of international sports competition. On top of the Winter Olympics, taking place throughout the month of February, and the World Cup, which will take place in North America over the summer, 2026 is also a World Baseball Classic (WBC) year. The international baseball competition, which began in 2006, will see its sixth iteration next spring, with games starting on March 6 and lasting until March 17, the date on which the final will take place in Miami, Florida.
The competition was wildly successful back in 2023, with a showdown between Shohei Ohtani of Team Japan and Mike Trout of Team USA serving as the final out of a one-run thrilling championship that went Japan's way.
