Adi Viveash will remain in interim charge of Middlesbrough following the departure of head coach Rob Edwards to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A compensation deal was agreed between the clubs for Edwards and coach Harry Watling to head to Molineux, having only arrived on Teesside in June.
Viveash guided Boro to a 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Saturday after Edwards had been stood down for the match and has been asked to carry on that task.
The 56-year-old previously worked with Chelsea's age-group teams and had seven years as assistant manager to Mark Robins at Coventry City before joining Boro to work alongside Edwards.
