Western Kentucky overcame the road, history, emotion, and a sub-par performance by their top player for a key 82-75 win over MTSU's women Thursday night at Murphy Center.
The two longtime rivals rode hot streaks, but the Lady Toppers rode out at first place in Conference USA. It was their first series sweep and first victory over the Lady Raiders in Murfreesboro since the 2003-04 season.
Western Kentucky's Kendall Noble, last season's C-USA player of the year and a candidate again, struggled in the first half with no points and three fouls. She finished with only 10 points.
