Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson has been suspended six games and Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez will miss three for being the primary participants in a bench-clearing brawl between the two teams Saturday night.
Anderson received the stiffer punishment after appearing to be the instigator of a fight that saw the two players square up like boxers and exchange blows by the second base bag. Anderson was knocked to the ground after being punched in the left side of his face by Ramirez.
Additionally, from the Guardians, pitcher Emmanuel Clase, manager Terry Francona and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh were each given one-game suspensions.
