MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A costly late-inning mistake helped the Middle Tennessee baseball team win its Conference USA home opener Thursday. The Blue Raiders (14-10, C-USA 3-2) and Rice (12-13, C-USA 1-4) took a 1-1 tie into the eighth inning before MT capitalized on a misplayed fly ball in left center field, allowing three runners to score with two outs in a 4-1 final.
"We got some good at-bats when we needed them," Middle Tennessee head coach Jim Toman said. "We ended up making two errors, which is unlike us … but we found a way to win today.
