RUSTON, La. – Middle Tennessee secured a huge road win against Louisiana Tech, claiming a 6-4 triumph against a Bulldogs' team receiving Top 25 votes and contending for the C-USA regular-season crown.
The win strengthened the Blue Raiders' chances of earning one of the eight berths for the C-USA Championships in Biloxi, Miss., later this month.
Middle Tennessee (23-22-1, 8-13-1) earned the victory with a combination of strong starting pitching supplied by senior southpaw Jake Wyrick, combined with the strong relief efforts of Tyler Holcombe and Drew Huff. They combined to limit the Bulldogs (31-16, 15-7) to eight hits.
