MTSU quarterback Brent Stockstill was voted Conference USA's Freshman of the Year as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Stockstill becomes the school's first-ever Freshman of the Year.
Stockstill, who broke the league's record for passing yards by a freshman, enters the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl with 3,678 passing yards on 301 completions and 27 touchdowns. All went down as single-season records for the Blue Raiders. He also set single-season marks in attempts, passing yards per game, 300-yard passing games and consecutive 300-yard passing games.
Stockstill currently ranks 11th nationally in passing yards, 15th in passing touchdowns and seventh in completions per game while also leading all freshmen in those categories.
