Special teams are an integral part of the game. Just ask Stewarts Creek and McGavock.
With the game tied at 22-22, McGavock lined up for a 38-yard, game-winning field goal for the win last Friday night.
However, Stewarts Creek's do-it-all Tayne Davis blocked the kick, and Noah Owen scooped the ball up and returned almost 60 yards for a touchdown as time expired to give the Red Hawks a thrilling 28-22 victory on the road.
"We've had some exciting endings, overtimes and some exciting stuff," veteran coach David Martin said. "But never one like that with a blocked return for a touchdown on the last play of the game.
