Stewarts Creek tried its best to limit Independence's high-powered offense, but the Red Hawks conceded too many big plays in a 41-17 road loss to the Eagles Friday night.
Stewarts Creek (4-3, 3-1 Region 5-5A) controlled the football and time of possession, but the Eagles (6-0, 3-0) won their 21st straight game thanks to short scoring drives and long touchdown plays.
"We gave up some big plays at critical times," Red Hawks coach David Martin said. "But I'm proud of our kids for how hard they played. In four years, that's probably our best game in terms of effort.
