SMYRNA -- Stewarts Creek's baseball team punched its ticket to the Region 4-AAA finals and a sectional berth with a 6-1 victory over Columbia Monday night.
Stewarts Creek will play at home again Wednesday in the region championship against Blackman, which beat Franklin County 5-2 in eight innings. Game time TBA as Stewarts Creek's graduation is scheduled for Wednesday evening as well.
"Winning this gets you to Friday and that's everybody's goal in the whole state," said Stewarts Creek coach Mike Bartlett. "I have a great deal of respect for (Columbia) coach (Mark) Pickle. Anytime you can beat a Pickle-coached team it's a great win.
