Coach Mike Bartlett told his Stewarts Creek baseball team prior to its District 7 first-round game against Smyrna that seeding doesn't matter.
It held true to form as the No. seed Red Hawks held on for a scary 4-3 victory over the seventh seeded Bulldogs that wasn't without drama in the final inning.
Trailing 4-2 in the top of the seventh, Smyrna got within a run on a Ty Carter single that plated Trey Brown. The Bulldogs had runners and first and third with two outs before reliever Will Duffy coaxed a groundout to shortstop Tre Bailliez to end the threat.
