DALLAS – Middle Tennessee catcher Mason Speirs has been named to the 2022 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
Speirs, one of 11 student-athletes on the list, graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in biology. He finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.65, which included a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2021-22 academic year.
Speirs has recorded over triple the number of hits in 2022 (46) than his two previous seasons combined (15). A native of Westminster, Colo., Speirs recorded 14 multi-hit games and set new career highs in hits (four at Rice, May 15) and home runs (two at UAB, March 27) during his breakout 2022 season.
