MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After having to deal with a tough triple option Army offense in Week 1, perhaps no one for Middle Tennessee was more excited to see Troy's spread than linebacker Cody Smith.
The redshirt junior had a career outing against the Trojans, leading the Blue Raider defense with nine tackles — eight of them solo — and 2.5 tackles for loss, both setting new single-game career bests. He also accounted for the first two sacks of his career and his first forced fumble, which led to one of MT's two touchdowns of the day.
