Alex Carignan wanted the save, but he got the win instead.
It didn't matter because Carignan and his Siegel teammates will play for the TSSAA Class AAA baseball state championship on Friday.
Carignan had Summit down to its final out in the bottom of the seventh inning, only to see the Panthers tie the game at 2-2.
However, after the Stars scored a run in the top of the eighth, Carignan, who had caught 13 innings, shut Summit down in the bottom half of the inning for a 3-2 victory.
Siegel went into the day having to win twice against the Panthers, and the Stars won the first game 9-5.
