Seattle Mariners, SS J.P. Crawford agree to five-year, $51M contract, sources say

The Seattle Mariners and shortstop J.P. Crawford have reached agreement on a five-year, $51 million contract, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Sources said the new deal will start this year and buys out two free-agent seasons for Crawford.

Crawford had been set to make $4.85 million this season after reaching a deal last month to avoid arbitration. He made $2.05 million in 2021, when he hit .273 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs.

The 27-year-old won a Gold Glove at shortstop in 2020 and is a career .
