NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Middle Tennessee's DJ Sanders was named the Defensive Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sportswriters Association for his play in the Blue Raiders' win over FIU last Saturday.
Sanders scored the game-winning touchdown on a 48-yard interception return with 1:22 remaining in the Blue Raiders 42-35 victory at Florida International. The Golden Panthers were driving toward midfield with the contest tied at 35 when Sanders hauled in his third career interception and his second for a touchdown. The Sandersville, Ga., native collected seven tackles with one sack and one pass break-up to go with his game-winning TD.
