BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Blue Raiders had one runner in competition as Eliud Rutto raced in the 800 meter preliminary race.
In the 800, Rutto finished second overall, qualifying him for the 800 meter final Saturday. The Eldoret, Kenya native was beat out by Akron's Clayton Murphy, who finished in 1:46.92, while Rutto finished in 1:47.27.
Joining Rutto in Birmingham is Vincent Okot, who will compete in the men's triple jump tomorrow.
Rutto and Okot are slated to finish competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday at the Birmingham Crossplex.
