Oakland High got off to a great start in the first inning Saturday against Riverdale, with two men safe on base, a runner crossing home plate, and no outs.
But then officials called the two runners out for interference and sent the scoring runner back to third. The Patriots would never recover, losing 13-0 in a Mercy Rule shortened game in the first round of the District 7 baseball tournament.
In his first start of the season, Riverdale senior pitcher Lucas Harrell went on to toss a three-hit shutout.
"My defense, my players behind me, that's what was working," Harrell said.
