The state and nationally top-ranked Riverdale girls will be back to defend their Class AAA Title following Saturday's 79-58 home victory over Cumberland County at home.
The contest did not come without losses for the Lady Warriors as Tennessee Miss Basketball finalist Anastasia Hayes went down with an ankle injury with two and a half minutes left to play in the game.
"She turned her ankle there and taped her and then it got tweaked there in the second quarter, and her being the Warrior she is she just wanted to compete and play hard and do what she can for her team," said Lady Warriors head coach Randy Coffman "Unfortunately for her, she had another slip, and it was the same ankle.
