RALEIGH, N.C. – In the first of two meets for the Middle Tennessee track & field teams, one record was broken at the Raleigh Relays Friday night.
Sampson Laari, a junior from Kumasi, Ghana, finished 28th in the 5,000 meter, breaking a seven-year old Middle Tennessee outdoor record. Laari finished the 5K in 14:16.14, eclipsing the previous school record of 14:17.19, which was set by Festus Chemaoi.
"Sampson (Laari) continues to impress, running his first 5K for MT and breaks the school record," said associate head coach .
Also competing in the 5k in Raleigh was Hillary Rono and Geoffry Cheruiyot and the duo finished 39th (14:16.
