NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee dropped its final mid-week game of the season, 17-7 against Vanderbilt Tuesday night at Hawkins Field.

The Blue Raiders (22-30), could not mound a comeback after the Commodores (31-21) put up a five runs in the third inning.

Vandy needed one pitch to get on the board, ripping a home run to right field on the first pitch of the game. After the first pitch, MT held VU in check over the next two innings.

The Blue Raiders bounced back in the third, sparked by a one-out single by Blake Benefield, the first MT hit of the game.
