Q & A with former MTSU baseball player and Major Leaguer Jason Maxwell

Former MTSU baseball standout Jason Maxwell defied the odds -- and then some.

The former Marshall County three-sport athlete spent three seasons at MTSU from 1991-1993 before being taken in the 74th round of the Major League Draft by the Chicago Cubs.

Five years later, Maxwell was called up to the Chicago Cubs and became the lowest drafted player to ever reach the big leagues.

Maxwell spent a brief stint with the Cubs in 1998 and played two full seasons with the Minnesota Twins. After minor league duties with the Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Devils Rays, he decided to retire.
