MIAMI – Middle Tennessee scored a combined nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings in its 11-5 win over FIU Sunday.
The Blue Raiders (25-20, 14-10 C-USA) clinched the series and won their sixth straight Sunday game after a 15-hit performance. James Sells gave MT another strong outing on the mound as he pitched 6.1 innings, struck out four and allowed two earned runs. Sells did not allow a hit until the top of the fourth inning.
Leading 2-0, Sells gave up his first run in the fourth but pitched around trouble in the fourth and fifth to keep FIU in check.
