Oakland's volleyball team pulled out a thrilling five-set victory over homestanding Blackman Tuesday night, 21-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-10.
Kara Nelms filled the stat sheet for the Lady Patriots with 21 kills, seven digs, three blocks and three aces.
"My setter is always good at placing the ball, so our coach told us to do it over and over again and it would work," Nelms said. "We just worked as a team."
The Lady Blaze took an early 5-1 lead in the first set as Calla Shotwell scored on two kills. The lead became 10-3 after a block from Sade Korbieh.
