In a battle of two of the top teams in District 7, the Oakland Lady Patriots (7-3-1, 5-0-1) edged the Stewarts Creek Lady Red Hawks (7-4-1, 1-3-1) on the road Tuesday night, 2-1.
"They're tough and have good, quality attacking players," Oakland coach Jeff Boynton said. "Obviously, the last 5-10 minutes we were trying to protect our lead and counter attack, and they had a good couple opportunities. I thought Sophie (Turner) played well and made a couple of good saves. To be honest, we got a little bit fortunate with some of those that went just wide of the post on the free kicks.
