Oakland welcomed the Independence Eagles to Class 6-A Friday night in Week 1 with a 38-6 blowout victory in a game that featured a matchup between last year's 5-A and 6-A state runners-up.
"There were times that we played really well, but there were times that we didn't play well at all," Oakland coach Kevin Creasy said. "We have a long way to go but I'm proud of our guys. When we were playing well we were hard to handle. We have to play like that for four quarters."
The Patriot game plan was simple and effective against the Eagles, and the plan was to run.
