Oakland's baseball team exploded for six runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 7-1 victory at home Thursday over Riverdale Thursday night, and in doing so avoid a series sweep by the Warriors.
"We put it together tonight," said Oakland coach Mack Hawks. "We pitched great, defense was good, and we got the clutch hits tonight. Now we've got Smyrna next week and how we do there will determine our seed in the playoffs."
Despite the loss, Riverdale is still 9-6 in District 7-AAA play and in third place, while Oakland improved to 4-11.
