MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee was three outs away from victory, clinging to a 7-5 lead against No. 25 Southern Miss, when the rains came Sunday afternoon.
After a delay of two hours, one minute due to inclement weather; however, that lead quickly washed away.
Middle Tennessee scored what looked like a big insurance run when the game resumed in the bottom of the eighth to go up 8-5, but Southern Miss (34-12, 16-5) came off of the deck for eight runs in the top of the ninth to stun the Blue Raiders (20-24, 7-14), 13-9.
