MTSU senior point guard Ty Petty entered the C-USA opener against UAB needing 14 points to join the Lady Raider 1,000-point club, but the Lady Raiders would need 29 from her in order to win Sunday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama.
Petty came through on both accounts, equaling her career high with 29 points, including 10-of-10 at the free-throw line and five steals, as MTSU (6-6, 1-0) came from behind to score a 64-61 win against the Blazers (7-5, 0-1).
Petty was dazzling as she became the 30th Lady Raider to join the elite 1,000-point club. In fact, she accomplished the milestone before halftime when she drilled a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from 25 feet.
